Re: Sam Allardyce Confirmed As New Sunderland Manager

Calm down everyone. Lets not go overboard. The new manager has arrived and this was a quick appointment. We knew Sam Allardyce would come here just give him time to settle in. The derby is important but so is stability for SAFC. Thumbs up to Big Sam from me. http://classiccaseof.files.wordpress.com/...

Re: DWP - Being Blamed For Suicide - Fit To Work Assessment

There are some horror stories and I would agree that one suicide is one too many but lets face it there are some people who should not be on certain benefits. I wouldn't be able to offer a solution but I would agree that the DWP doctors should be mothballed in the short term and retrained properly.

Re: Sunderland Illuminations 2015

I have saw the illuminations again this year and would agree that they are only a fraction of what we all witnessed a few decades ago. In these days of cutbacks they certainly skimped on the Sunderland illuminations in comparison with previous years.

Re: Hundreds of Muslims Die Near Mecca - Stampede on Hajj

Allowing so many people to visit the place in one go will always result in deaths. In the west we have safety procedures and will learn from the mistakes and act. Things are not like this in other countries. Once the stampede starts, there is no way to stop it and the tragedy will begin. Don't expec...

Re: Victoria Hall disaster, Sunderland, 16th June 1883

Its good that Sunderland Council managed to restore the monument and I think its glass structure is fitting. I get a lump in the throat when I look at the Victoria Hall Monument. The thought of the hardship at the time combined with the loss of a child is too unbearable to think of. To think, all th...

Re: Ships Made On The River Wear At Sunderland

Strangely enough I was having similar conversations the other night down the pub about the size of the ships that were built in Sunderland. Most people over the age of 40 should remember the ships being launched and the sheer size of them. Also how they just managed to scrape under the bridges. The ...
