BREAKING NEWS FROM TWITTER: Sunderland striker Josh Maja has told Sunderland this lunchtime he will NOT be signing their contract offer. 15-goal Maja had until today to give his final answer to the club. Sunderland offered him seven times his current wage to stay.

Stewart Donald Reply: Josh Maja update. Yesterday Josh asked to see Jack to say he will sign. Today I got a call from Sky TV saying he won't sign. Josh advised his agent has said don't sign but no courtesy to tell the club - Also we offered what the agent indicated!!! Busy January ahead

There you have it - straight from the horses mouth.

Then he can leave as with other players in the past in a similar position, its best to move him on to his new pastures.
He will get a little more money but like others who have left will flop.
Bye Maja, been nice knowing you.

Sad news but I expected this, some people really have no idea and Maja is one. He is young and has possibly no sense on certain things. He is good in this league yes, but once he leaves he will soon miss us. Not only that but he wont have all those moments where he will celebrate with the fans. Bookmark this. In other words he will disappear into the wilderness like many before him. But well done to the two other lads who know the potential here.

If nobody comes in for Maja he still has to play out the rest of his contract?
Not sure what that is but I think it should be until the summer at least?

Correct, he is a Sunderland player right through until Summer but because of the situation, the club will want to cash in during this window or they stand to lose out big time.
He should play today and with each 'good' performance this will make him more attractive. The lad has been unsettled possibly because of his agent but this shouldn't stop him performing.
The news of him refusing to sign means that he will or should go sometime soon.
However, saying that, don't expect a top Premier League come in for him with big bucks.
I reckon a Championship club might try their luck on him though with a modest fee.
Good luck Maja, you are going to need it.
