George Honeyman Red Card Appeal

Post by Sunderland Nut »

Sunderland AFC have started the appeals process for George Honeyman after he was red carded in the closing stages of the Wycombe Wanderers game.
There was a lot of bother in the area around the dug-outs when one of their players kicked the ball away - time-wasting.
SAFC have cited that Honeyman was suffering from concussion at the time.

Fingers crossed for this one but I can't see the appeal going anywhere because they wouldn't want to set a precedent for others to copy and use this as an example.
His red card will stand :x

This is the position right now.
George Honeyman has LOST his appeal and his red card stands.

However, he can still play in the Checkatrade Trophy Final - this has all been confirmed - https://twitter.com/hashtag/safc?src=hash

SAFC official announcement is also here - https://www.safc.com/news/team-news/201 ... mbley-trip

I thought the appeal would go in but I also thought we would lose this one.
Surprised at the inclusion of the final for the lad but happy for him all the same.
Let's hope he lifts the cup then.

Once the place kicked off it was obvious that action would be taken.
But, the fact that George can play in the final is good news.

To be honest it was on the cards but in the heat of the moment these things can happen.

I was listening to Marco Gabbiadini on Total Sport last night and he said a supporter threw a punch at him as he was going through the tunnel and the first reaction is to go after the idiot but we all know you shouldn't.
It is just the heat of the moment and it will always happen.
