Sunderland last won at Wembley in 1973 when we beat Leeds United 1-0 in the FA CUP Final.
Since then we have been back to Wembley in London 8 times and lost every game:
1 x FA Cup final
2 x League Cup finals
3 x play-off finals
1 x EFL Trophy
1 x Centenary tournament game
Surely we can't get beat off Tranmere Rovers this Sunday - haway man!
I have included a poll for this game - Will Sunderland Win or Lose?
We will win this game because this Wembley hoodoo can't possibly continue.
Your poll should therefore have said, "Will Sunderland win by a narrow margin, a 2 or 3 goal cushion, a cricket score or a penalty shoot-out" and the "Lose" bit shouldn't be there
We will win.
I know we are in, what is in effect, the Third Division, but there is a lot of optimism floating about the place right now.
A bit of silverware and promotion to the Championship is going to put us in good stead when the lockdown has ended and we are allowed back into the Stadium of light.
It will be 3-0 to the lads and a few arrests for breaking the COVID-19 rules in Trafalgar Square
Looking forward to it all really. No fans in Wembley will make things look weird but at least we will have won a cup and then it's time to celebrate and really go for promotion. I think our new owners will be impressed and glad he took over.
As for the covid rules, well, we know Sunderland supporters will be in London for this game. The drink will flow but hopefully, the police won't be too heavy-handed.
I am not sure whether we are better equipped this season or whether Lee Johnson is just getting the best out of the squad but we are certainly looking good for the money.
We were knocked out of the other cups early on and concentrated on this (deliberate or not ) anyway we are here now so let's go for it.
In the next few years though, don't expect me to boast about this pizza cup
I expect the lads to go to Wembley without fear and be confident as they have been to win this game 3-0.

I'd still have this trophy just because winning at Wembley in a cup final is something that anyone a few years younger than me will not have experienced.
