Worst Speed Bumps In Sunderland

I know speed bumps are there as traffic calming measures but some are was too severe.
Some people still call these humps in the road, Sleeping Policemen but I have my own name for them.

I always thought the speed bumps on Front Road, Ford Estate were the worst but they made these less obtrusive a few years ago.
Last night I was driving through Thorney Close for the first time in ages and the speed bumps in some of the side streets there are pretty bad.
I am not familiar with the street names but believe me, these bumps are some of the worst in Sunderland.
It got me thinking about the rest of the city and whether any others can be as bad as the ones in Thorney Close.

The number one monster speed bump in Sunderland in my opinion has to be the one at the start of Lansbury Way in Castletown. Hit that one at more than 5mph and your car is done for.
As a collection though, I think Thorney Close has it bad.
So, lets know if there are any other nasty speed bumps on Wearside and what you consider is the worst.

Those leading down to Castletown from Hylton Castle are terrible.
Hit them at anything above 10mph and you know about it!

The speed humps on Seaham sea front were monsters. I am not sure if they are still there because I know there was a right old stink when they were put down.

What makes Fordfield Road particularly bad is that it is on a bank.
When these speed bumps are on a bank you need to drive over a lot slower, especially going downhill.

Those long streets in Hendon have loads of speed bumps like Cairo Street, Hastings Street, St Leonard Street etc. Don't think the back lanes are a short cut either because they are just as bad in them.
Also, in the snow, if you don't know where they are they can catch you out, especially if the snow has covered the street signs or they are missing.

I think the sneaky speed bump just after the bend at the top of Elmwood Avenue in Marley Pots is nasty. You can't really position the car in a way to make it less severe so as a result you have to go really slow. Anyone who doesn't know it is there will hit it badly or have to slam the brakes on once they see it.

For me I would say the speed bumps in Witherwack are bad. From the start of Witherwack to Redhouse theres a mile of them. I try and avoid that route where possible. Pity help the people who live there who have to use them roads daily.
