New footbridge over the River Wear to the Stadium of Light
There's been £6m pumped into the planning stage for the regeneration of the Farringdon Row area.
This includes the ideas for a new cycle/footbridge over the River Wear to the Stadium of Light.
This idea has been around since the stadium was built but it looks like it could happen soon.
There are 2 possibilities for the bridge:
1) A high-level bridge linking the stadium to the old Vaux brewery.
2) A lower-level bridge linking Galleys Gill Riverside Park with the famous C2C cycle route
Once it's built we might see an end to the mad rush over the Wearmouth Bridge after the games.

The high level one should be the better option.
What was that you said again?

This should have been built with the stadium.

That's right.
The new bridge will see a load going over towards the bottom end of Hylton Road way and it'll be a short cut.

Good idea, should have been done years ago, but with this virus it'll get put way back.

The plans will be put back without a doubt.

Yes and I remember it was only about 6 million quid.
Also if I am not mistaken, they can't extend the Stadium of Light without this footbridge.
Not that we are in any way in a position to do that!
