If we can produce our own electricity at home to charge our cars, then how do they compete with that?

They can't but we are talking about those energy companies now and have a massive say in things.
It's more complicated than finding oil and turning it into petrol and if nobody wants petrol then the oil wells shut.
Anyway, isn't petrol just a by-product or waste from the oil?

The oil companies don't just oil the industry, they have their hands in a lot of other pies.

It's only recently that I've noticed what a penny on a litre of fuel could amount to on a full tank or say over a month.
The difference between petrol at 99p and £1.28 therefore is shocking
