Sunderland Household Waste and Recycling Centres are Closed!

Sunderland Household Waste and Recycling Centres are Closed!

Do these places really need to be closed? After all there's going to be a massive build up of rubbish and fly tipping will be rife all over Wearside.
I regularly use the one at Deptford.
Surely well over 2 metres can be achieved throughout that place and there's no other contact.

This is what you get when you go to the Sunderland council website:

"Due to the current COVID19 pandemic and the requirement to deliver critical functions we have closed the household waste and recycling centres. Provision will be reviewed regularly and we appreciate your patience and understanding at this time."

There's no need for them to be closed, If the bin collections are working, why aren't these?

Drive in, deposit rubbish in the bins, drive out, no contact with anyone so why are these places shut?

What was that you said again?

Some of the back lanes are a right mess.

They probably don't trust people to put the right rubbish in the right bins.

As you go into these places you are stopped and ask what you are dumping. Then you get bin numbers to put everything in.
I can't see why waste disposal should be put on hold though.

I don't know about other places, but at Deptford it would be easy to socially distance from everyone.

And they could let less people in after reorganising the bins, piece of cake.

They'd rather have days off.
