If they have ZERO star hygiene rating, how on earth are they allowed to stay open :headscratch:
I saw a couple in Sunderland with 1 star rating and never used them again.

Agree. They should be closed down until they improve their facilities, and train their staff and themselves to the standards necessary under the requirements of the FSA, or be fined and permanently closed down for being a health risk to the public.

That's what you do see and what the authorities see because if I'm not mistaken they tell the shops in advance for their inspection.

Not strictly true although most inspections are planned.
The council authorities can and WILL cold call on takeaway shops and restaurants etc.

Exactly. You can't tell them in advance, you've got to keep them on their toes.

Well, they should introduce a "rat watch" into all this because go to the back of most takeaway shops and you will see them.
Don't believe me?
Then all you need do is sit in McDonald's car park and watch but this will apply where there are takeaways with outside bins, especially those that are constantly overflowing.

Indeed they should because I hate the blighters.

Rats live just about anywhere so anywhere where there are easy pickings like an open bin outside a food shop and you should expect them.

I used to get rats in my garden regularly because my two neighbours on either side were not looking after their gardens at the time.
Eventually, they started to clean up their patch and the rat problem went and now one has cats which helps.

What was that you said again?

I'm not kidding here but when I was a kid and through my development years, I always thought standards were getting better everywhere.
Nowadays it seems we have poor hygiene in these food shops and plagues of rats patrolling our streets at night, just what has happened here?
