Isn't the money coming from legal and general, the insurance company?

I don't know but the cost at the time was around £6m.Sandy Mackem wrote: ↑08 Apr 2021, 19:56^ This - I really don't know how they got away with not building it when the stadium of light can hold 50,000 people. Probably more when the concerts are on.
A footbridge was certainly something that the stadium needed at the time.

You would have thought that short could have funded that.Crawford wrote: ↑09 Apr 2021, 11:28I don't know but the cost at the time was around £6m.Sandy Mackem wrote: ↑08 Apr 2021, 19:56

Re: New Footbridge Across The River Wear
At the time it was Bob Murray, he could have had a bridge over the River Wear named after him.
Still, he has the Murray Library named after him because of his funding there.
We also have Niall Quinn centre at the Royal Hospital - I think this comes from his testimonial money.
I'm not sure about any other landmarks around Sunderland with football connections.

Bob did it all on the cheap though, I'm not knocking him because I appreciate what he did.
In fact, I get slaughtered for praising him, not so much now but at the time it was bad.
If the bridge cost a million it would have been built

He would have had to have sold a lot of kitchens to get the bridge built.Sunderland Nut wrote: ↑09 Apr 2021, 11:49 Bob did it all on the cheap though, I'm not knocking him because I appreciate what he did.
