You are right, it's all gone quiet.thingamajig wrote: ↑01 Oct 2021, 12:04 They seemed to have stopped work on the new road for weeks now
I hope it's all finished for the Christmas panic buying because near Christmas, Cowies roundabout gets really busy.

Yes, you can sit for ages waiting for that to clear but maybe the flow of traffic at the roundabout will be quicker when it's all done.Trish wrote: ↑07 Oct 2021, 18:52You are right, it's all gone quiet.thingamajig wrote: ↑01 Oct 2021, 12:04 They seemed to have stopped work on the new road for weeks now

No part the new road is in use yet even though it looks decent from the top end so I wonder if there will be a ribbon cut to mark the opening.thingamajig wrote: ↑01 Oct 2021, 12:04 They seemed to have stopped work on the new road for weeks now

The bit around the Queen Alexandra Bridge area was taking time but I don't know how advanced they are there now.Sunderland Nut wrote: ↑16 Oct 2021, 11:34No part the new road is in use yet even though it looks decent from the top end so I wonder if there will be a ribbon cut to mark the opening.thingamajig wrote: ↑01 Oct 2021, 12:04 They seemed to have stopped work on the new road for weeks now

I can't imagine how they are building a dual carriageway under the QAB.Mawsey wrote: ↑16 Oct 2021, 11:46The bit around the Queen Alexandra Bridge area was taking time but I don't know how advanced they are there now.Sunderland Nut wrote: ↑16 Oct 2021, 11:34

That was probably some engineering nightmare.

I am only going by memory of the area from many years ago but I did notice them strengthening certain parts on the bend.Steve30000 wrote: ↑05 Nov 2021, 17:57Looking at the map, they only needed to remove one big buildingSunderland Nut wrote: ↑16 Oct 2021, 13:36

I keep meaning to get down there for pictures but I'm sure we will be driving along there soon anyway.
That bit is good now although I think they should move the zebra crossing up about 50 yards at the bottom of Hylton Road as it's too near the roundabout.
