Christmas Events in Sunderland and Wearside 2015

Many shops in Sunderland City Centre are open until 8pm each Thursday including the Bridges.
In December there will be extended opening hours to help make Christmas shopping easier.

The Bridges for example have extended their opening hours between Mon 7th December - Wed 23rd December 2015:

Monday to Friday - 9am to 8pm
Saturdays - 9am to 5:30pm
Sundays - 11am to 5pm
Christmas Eve - 9am to 5:30pm
Christmas Day - CLOSED
Boxing Day - 9am to 5:30pm
Sunday 27th Dec - 11am to 5pm
Monday 28th Dec - Weds 30th Dec - 9am to 5:30pm
Thurs 31st Dec - 9am to 5:30pm
New Year's Day - CLOSED

Parking in Sunderland City Council car parks both on and off street will be free after 3pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 12th November 2015 until Friday 1st January 2016.

Keel Square, Sunderland, Ice Rink:

This event will run from 26th November 2015 until 24th December 2015.
The ice rink will be open in Sunderland from 10am to 8pm from Sunday to Wednesday and 10am to 10pm between Thursday and Saturday. It will close at 4pm on Christmas Eve.

The prices are £6.50 for kids and £7.50 for adults. A family ticket (2 adults and 2 kids) will be £24.00.
Skaters are guaranteed a minimum of 45 minutes each.

The Christmas lights and big switch on in Sunderland:

The Christmas lights in Sunderland will be switched on from Keel Square at 6:30pm on the 12th November. Special guests will be there as an added attraction.

Traditional fairground in Sunderland City Centre:

The fairground will be set up on the old Vaux site.
As in the Sunderland illuminations down at Seaburn and Roker there will be many attractions which will include the 49 foot Ferris Wheel. There will of course be many other rides and attractions including the dodgems, carousel and the waltzer etc.
