I am sure it will look pretty good.
I had my doubts about its position but I think I am used to the idea now.
No longer do we have to go right up to the Hylton Bridge or the Wearmouth Bridge when the Queen Alexandra Bridge is closed.
One thing for sure is the place will never look the same again and our journey times will be reduced.
Well done Sunderland City Council.

I might have the day off today!

I will think it pretty strange to look over towards Clachy Rock and see a new bridge over the River Wear.
Its Claxheugh Rock to those who prefer its proper name but in Sunderland we all know it as Clachy Rock or Clatchy Rock however we are supposed to spell the slang version.
If you look over that way right now from Wessington Way you will see an awful lot of earth being moved there. Its looking awesome at this time.

Clatchy Rock as we all know it:

A better view of Claxheugh Rock and when the new Sunderland bridge is built things certainly will not look the same:

The new bridge will be pretty basic in comparison to the old iconic bridge we were promised.
Count our blessings though.
Once complete with the new dual carriageway then traveling in Sunderland will be far better.
The traffic the new Sunderland bridge will take from the other three bridges will make it far easier to travel everywhere quicker.

We should have had a poll here on whether this new Sunderland bridge is better than the original iconic bridge.

I personally like both but prefer the new design 8-)

The new Sunderland bridge is a hit from me.
I hate driving over the A19 - Hylton Bridge as its bland but the new one looks canny good.
Sunderland has needed a new bridge for years but as they say, better late than never.

I think the new Sunderland bridge looks nice from that artists impression unlike the new developments in High Street West
Look, we all know that traffic in Sunderland is pretty bad so this new bridge and associated dual carriageway across the city will go a long way to make life better for all Wearsiders.
I am looking forward to its completion.
Well done to those involved.
