I would agree with that one
I think the name is ok but to be honest I can't see the council going for it.

Joseph Swan was the real inventor of the electric light bulb although some American did try and get there first.
Joseph Swan was born in Sunderland.
Since Sunderland is pretty famous for its illuminations and of course the Stadium of Light why not go with that.
Sunderland failed to get the iconic bridge promised so why not go overboard with the lighting on this bridge and have some light theme.
The Joseph Swan Bridge may be good
However, have we established whether the new Sunderland bridge has a name yet and if not when will the naming take place. More to the point how do the higher ups in the council plan to get the name.

Sounds good to me

Nice one but somehow I don't think this will happen.
I would just call it the Southwick Bridge even if no part of it is in Suddick

I think we should call the new Sunderland bridge over the River Wear " The Great North Bridge".
This capitalises on the "great north" thing and would sure pee some people off.

As much as I like the name and how appropriate it would be I don't think it would work.
I would like to see the new River Wear crossing named after one of the Royals.
I prefer the Queen Elizabeth II.

The QE2 Bridge has a ring to it.
I am not too bothered about the name of the new Sunderland bridge though.
I just cant wait to see the whole system up and running because I use the Queen Alexandra Bridge often at the peak periods and it can be bull bate at times.
