Obesity - Sunderland Hospitals Have The UK's Highest Admissions

Obesity - Sunderland Hospitals Have The UK's Highest Admissions

Sunderland hospitals had 375 admissions in 2014/15 for conditions associated with people being overweight.
People will remember the television programme about the weight loss ward in Sunderland Royal Hospital which was screened in 2014.

So, what exactly is it about Sunderland that is making the city have this obesity problem?

Obesidy and affluence go together so is Sunderland a comfortably well off area?
Maybe we are all just a tad lazy!

Its probably an unfair assessment because Sunderland Royal Hospital takes inpatients from across the region.
Just because the hospital is in Sunderland you can't sat that Sunderland folk have more problems than elsewhere with obesidy.
If that was the case you could say that Sunderland has the highest problem with many illnesses that the hospital specialises in!

You can dismiss this because Sunderland people are no fatter than anywhere else.
Its been pointed out that its the hospital that has the patients and not necessarily the city!

I think this is a fair comment.
