The Pokemon craze has really took off in the Sunderland area.
I was asking a mate about why there were loads of cars parked up in remote areas around Wearside lately.
He told me that they are there catching Pokemon creatures.
I remember Pokemon form my son's Nintendo console so I am familiar with some of the characters names.
Pikachu, Squirtle, Pidgey, Mankey, Jigglypuff and Snorlax, oh yes I know a few more :red_lol:
I don't know much about what is going on here but I have seen someone playing on the game.
Apparently you download the Pokemon Go on your mobile phone, Then you go about capturing all the Pokemon that you can.
There are Pokestops in various places and they have become meeting points to either capture the creatures or go and fight, well that's what I was told
Roker beach was full up the other night and a drive down Moor Lane in Cleadon near the Academy of Light was full of cars as well.
There are also places to stock up on Pokeballs.
The ones I saw were in North Bridge Street, Sunderland near the old casino.
I don't mind this new craze and perhaps it will pass but the unusual amount of people and cars in these unlit remote places could be disturbing.
Cemeteries with such places like Penshaw Monument and Hylton Castle have had Pokemon linked to them.
Imagine walking past a cemetery late at night with a few people prowling around looking for Pokemon to catch
But it is happening right now and people need to expect this to become a busy pastime as more and more folk join in.
There have been deaths around the world with people going crazy about this new fad.
Even in Sunderland, the police have issued a warning to people to be careful.
One person has already been injured after falling down the steps near South Shields looking for Pokemon.
