I think the dated videos here are brilliant. There's something special about the way it was all put together. Who needs super widescreen and Technicolor

I would love to see the production team who made the "Meanwhile Back In Sunderland" show. Were they indeed Sunderland fans or just a few reporters put together to make a documentary?

Any Sunderland supporter who hasn't seen "Meanwhile Back In Sunderland" needs to be hung, drawn and quartered. You need to see the video to get the feeling at the time.

I wish they would put this on the television again.
Last time I saw it on TV must have been over 15 years ago.
I don't mind the youtube versions but just wish I could see them again on the big modern television I own now.

Nice to see this collection in one area.
Great memories.
Street parties galore with a proper community spirit.
Could that ever happen again in Sunderland?
Lets win the FA Cup again and see.

My Dad (Ken Stephinson) make this documentary and he was a true Sunderland fan until the day he died . I was 11 when this was made and I remember the day as if it were yesterday

Well hats off to you.
If we all think about it, this was the early 1970's so doing a documentary such as this would have been truly ground-breaking.
For someone to actually sit back and think about making such a video he must have been passionate about the whole thing.
The memories left behind, especially with the help of this documentary, just made the 1973 FA Cup win by Sunderland that little bit more special.

Oh aye, this documentary was class.
Sad to hear the news that the maker has since passed away.
Meanwhile Back In Sunderland can actually bring a tear to your eye in so many ways.
I often think what it would be like to watch something like this through the eyes of a teenager just getting into SAFC.
The documentary, if that's what it is, was one of the most amazing things to be created from the 1973 FA Cup era.
Pure magic.

I love seeing this video.
I have watched it so many times over the years I have lost count.
Together with memories of the street parties we had once we won the cup this video just rekindles our fond memories.
Sunderland AFC - thanks for that magical period.
Also thanks to all those involved with keeping the archives alive, including the film makers and producers of this "Meanwhile Back in Sunderland" Video.
From start to finish it is packed with emotion.

I had this page bookmarked but never got around to seeing the video again.
I hope I will have time to watch it over Christmas as I always seem to put a little "me" time to one side then.

I'd love to see Sunderland win the FA Cup again.
I wonder if we would have the street parties like we did back then.
The video here from 1973 is very atmospheric but if it was replicated in these days it would be digital and super high definition.
I agree that the film makers had vision and that's what Sunderland is all about.
