Electric dream: Britain to ban new petrol and hybrid cars from 2035

Britain will ban the sale of new petrol, diesel and hybrid cars from 2035, five years earlier than planned, in an attempt to reduce air pollution that could herald the end of over a century of reliance on the internal combustion engine.

“We have to deal with our CO2 emissions,” Johnson said at a launch event for COP26 at London’s Science Museum on Tuesday. “As a country and as a society, as a planet, as a species, we must now act.”

Maybe they could make it happen much sooner if they got the manufacturers to put their ridiculous prices down on these electric cars.

If people could afford it, they'd buy an electric car, rather than an ice one..

I am all for this. However, I need a new car now and can't afford the new technology as it stands now otherwise I would do my bit.

I wonder what arrangements there are for classic cars.

They need to make it more affordable. These electric car prices are ridiculous

They need to make it more affordable.
There was a government grant of £4,500 but the scheme proved too popular so they cut it to £3,500.

That isn't enough imo. Most of these cars will go for 30 grand, even the average ones.

There should have been a third off or similar but I think maybe they are trying to get a manageable balance of things, at least that's what it looks like.

That's the problem though. Nobody can afford the flipping things so to hell with it. Well that seems to be it like.
