Then it's yours to recycle in a recycling bin/skip outside their stores?
That way, only you had been using it, then disposing of it properly therefore reducing passing on infection.
They should also be spraying sanitizer on people's hands before they enter.

Why don't supermarkets give you a box to use instead of a basket?

Boxes might be difficult with thousands of customers but sanitising baskets and trolleys both after and before use should have became law from the off.
What was that you said again?

This would be the ideal solution and I am surprised it hasn't been brought in.thingamajig wrote: ↑04 Apr 2020, 13:33 Boxes might be difficult with thousands of customers but sanitising baskets and trolleys both after and before use should have became law from the off.
I have been shopping three times this week at three different shops and nothing like this is in place at either of them and they are all big name supermarkets making loads of money.

Well said thingy.thingamajig wrote: ↑04 Apr 2020, 13:33 Boxes might be difficult with thousands of customers but sanitising baskets and trolleys both after and before use should have became law from the off.
Not only that but cash machines and similar touch screens should be self-sanitising.
Don't ask me how because I am not an expert but apparently you can catch coronavirus this way.

Re: Why don't supermarkets give you a box to use instead of a basket?
I don't want to use a trolley or basket because they're not sanatising them, so I have to carry what I want, which is awkward.Sunderland Nut wrote: ↑04 Apr 2020, 16:47Well said thingy.thingamajig wrote: ↑04 Apr 2020, 13:33 Boxes might be difficult with thousands of customers but sanitising baskets and trolleys both after and before use should have became law from the off.

They should be wiping them down or offering customers another solution.

Now that sanitisers are back in the shops and in full supply, there is no reason why they shouldn't have dispensers and other wipes.

Re: Why don't supermarkets give you a box to use instead of a basket?
We used to be able to do this decades ago.
The boxes were always at the end of the tills and you could pack your groceries into a box and off you go.
You could even do in for the empty boxes if you were moving house.
Then all this stopped, maybe for recycling or to keep the place looking tidy I don't know.
Good idea @Steve30000 but I doubt if there would be enough boxes to go around.
Were you thinking of some sort of disposable flat pack boxes?
If so, that sounds like a plan to me but we would have to pay for it somewhere along the line.
At the end of the day proper cleaning and hygiene is all it takes to stop the spread of Coronavirus in shops.
