I heard somewhere that the BBC will allow all these songs to be sung with the correct lyrics next year.

It wasn't reported well and even Boris Johnson stepped in to say he was shocked.
Maybe it was just a bad press release or misunderstood by a reporter.

That's because it is shocking what the BBC have decided to do with our money.
They did a u-turn apparently.
Don't worry, they will be back at a later date with some other shocking decision.

They had to u-turn really because people would just sing the lyrics anyway. If they refuse in the future just take their licence to broadcast away from them.
