Good job
Although assisting a drunk wouldn't be my aim in case other claims went in, you know what people are like.

I think a few people off here might ask "is that you off the Sunderland Forum" and talk to you now as happened before with someone.

I would be very careful even just thinking about touching anyone at all who might be going against some rules or even breaking the law.
So, what about a citizens arrest, people talk about that all the time.

I was always on the understanding that you can make a citizens arrest if you believe the crime being committed was serious enough to put the perpetrator in prison. But how you determine this, I have no idea.

I might have the day off today!

Citizens arrest is another dodgy subject because touching someone is an assault - period.
That what you are talking about was a 7 year prison sentence but whether it still stands is another thing.

How many times have you heard about a burglar being caught and hurt in the process but prosecutes the householder.
I think it all comes down to having a duty of care to other people :headscratch:

Not at all.
You can't assault anyone, that's the bottom line.
Also, you can't take the law into your own hands.
Just work around those.

Care for the burglar is null and void the moment they cause criminal damage to your property, trespassing, and theft...

What are you supposed to do, offer them a cup of tea?

No it isn't, not while the European human rights and other legislation is in force.
Get rid of the first one after Brexit in December and maybe we can start beating up burglars

Why can't we defend our property from invaders?

You are allowed to defend yourself and your property.
