Signs of alien life detected on Venus
https://news.sky.com/story/signs-of-ali ... s-12071625
Microbes unlike any life on Earth could be thriving high in the clouds of Venus, according to a new discovery by astronomers.
Microbial life on Venus is expected to be very different to that on Earth, however, as it would need to survive in the hyper-acidic conditions of the planet's clouds - made almost entirely from sulphuric acid.
Not walking, talking life, but potential life nonetheless..

Re: Signs of alien life detected on Venus
I read this story yesterday.
All we need to do is find one other extraterrestrial life form, especially in our own solar system, and that would mean that there is a high possibility that the universe is teaming with life.

I'd suspect that we'd have to travel a lot further out to find life at our level.

We will never meet an intelligent life form from another planet.Steve30000 wrote: ↑22 Sep 2020, 23:31 I'd suspect that we'd have to travel a lot further out to find life at our level.
Humans are only on this earth for a short period in it's history and we will die out in my opinion.
The likelihood is that it will be our robots meeting their robots or our AI meeting their AI (if we ever meet in any form).
Radio signals go on forever so they say and we have been broadcasting for over 100 years.
Any intelligent life within 100 light years will know our position but they have not let on if they found us.
I suspect the Universe is absolutely teaming with life and we will get proof from our own solar system soon.
Many civilisations will be millions of years ahead of us and they should have the ability to know about us, this leads me to believe that humans are pretty much on their own in the intelligence stakes.

Let's say there is a planet with intelligent life on the opposite side of our galaxy and they sent a radio message, "Hello Earthlings, how are you".
We receive it and send a message back, "Hi whatever planetlings, we are fine".
That process would take 200,000 years.

Yes because radio waves travel at the speed of light and the Milky Way is 100,000 light years across.Steve30000 wrote: ↑23 Sep 2020, 19:20Even at the speed of Light.Sunderland Nut wrote: ↑23 Sep 2020, 15:41 Let's say there is a planet with intelligent life on the opposite side of our galaxy and they sent a radio message, "Hello Earthlings, how are you".
