No vaccine just promises with no assurances that our immune system will cope long term and now it's mutating so expect it to be still here in 5 years time. It might not be as virulent but it will be still here. So the answer is how long is a piece of string but realistically I don't think we will really get to grips with it for at least 5 years.

We can't go in and out of lockdown for 5 years..
We won't have an economy left and everyone will be scared to touch each other and end up having mental problems

I think I am starting to agree now because herd immunity in the case of coronavirus might not work and is a little dangerous to carry out.

Protect the old and vulnerable, allow 60% of the population to get it.
Give people a vaccine if they so choose, I can't see why herd immunity won't work.
