Are these restrictions causing more harm than the virus itself?

Are these restrictions causing more harm than the virus itself?

Post by Steve30000 »

People losing their jobs

A lot kids going hungry

People dying of cancelled operations

People dying of preventable problems because they're scared to go to hospital

Mental health problems

Businesses forced to close

Loneliness

We're going to make things worse by trying to prevent this disease from spreading.

I thought the solution was an easy one but apparently it's not as easy as I thought :?

They were talking about this on the TV the other day saying that we are doing it all wrong.

The solution is staring us in the face but we seem to want to do as we did before which caused more problems than enough.

Lock up the elderly?
Only if they want to and many prefer this.
It's all about personal choice.
If they want to lock me away with all my needs catered for I would volunteer.
So if that was being sarky, forget it.
None of us want to close anything down but if the elderly are the ones that are dying of it, ask them nicely what they want and provide for them.
As well as those with medical issues etc.

I'd like to know how we'd cope with a much worse pandemic, like the black death..

It's all about isolating the problem.
But, people still need the shops etc.
This pandemic wasn't seen in advance although there are loads of movies predicting similar situations and we always knew it could happen anyway.
They will need to sort themselves out and put in place something which we can put into action immediately next time.

If I remember correctly, the government had a pandemic contingency plan in place, and funds set aside... They had plans in place and even carried out exercises, and had stockpiles of ppe.

But the Conservative government ignored the advice and stopped the funding as they thought it wouldn't be needed any time soon..

This was reported some time ago, but people seem to have forgotten this.
