At what point do we get our proper normal lives back?

At what point do we get our proper normal lives back?
When a high percentage of people are vaccinated?
Or will this government look for excuses to keep us from touching each other, and telling us to cover our faces up until we're 6 feet under?
Do we keep worrying about new variants, transmission, positive cases for the next 30 year, or do we just say open everything up, and let's live with it?

I just heard on the radio that the UK will almost be Covid free come the end of the year.
Whether all restrictions will be lifted by then is another matter because they will have to repeal all those "rules" if they actually became "law".

With all the variants we might have a bit difficulty.
If the vaccine can be modified quickly enough then we may get through all this otherwise I fear things will not get back to "normal" for a few years yet.

I might have the day off today!

Re: At what point do we get our proper normal lives back?
When this kicked off in march last year, they never mentioned any variants or mutations...now we have a vaccine that's all the government are pushing into people's faces.
These mutations were happening all the time before a vaccine, the scientists knew this, so Boris and his mates would have known also.
Which goalpost are they going to move onto next to stop any potential proper normality?
Cases?
Transmission?
The " R " number?
There's now a story being run by sky, that scientists are urging the government that every single adult should have the vaccine before they lift restrictions.
I can see one potential goalpost being moved right there...the next thing they'll say is " the whole world will need to be vaccinated first before the UK get rid of these restrictions"

Thing is though @Steve30000, it does actually kill old people and other vulnerable people so they have to act in some capacity.
I gave up thinking about how it will all end a few months ago because every time I think about it, the government seem to go in the opposite direction and besides, it's doing my head in.
