Manchester United will make a decision on the future of midfielder James Garner this week amid interest from League One Sunderland.

United have a number of injuries in midfield and Garner is well regarded by the club's coaching staff and viewed as valuable cover.

There is no doubt that he would benefit from a spell on loan and regular football but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will take stock of what he needs next week, when he hopes to be clearer about what new players are coming in.

No harm in it, its a good way to top up your squad in case of injuries, or if you can't sign another player you wanted.

We're going to use it to its full potential, because we won't spend on the targets we really want.

That's fine for stop gaps, and to fill in certain areas of the team.. But it's looking like we're using it simply because we refuse to pay a fee at all.
