6 Month MOT exemption
Vehicles needing to get an MOT over the next 6 months from the 30th of March can forget it, the government has exempted this test.
While garages can remain open for essential work though.
That means you don't need to get an MOT until around the beginning of October - if you can get an appointment with the flood which will pursue surely

There'll be quite bit of unroadworthy vehicles on the road for the next few months then.

Re: 6 Month MOT exemption
I've seen people driving vans with black smoke bellowing out of their vans before this pandemic.
So there'll be a few in their element

Me too, usually taxis, but the police can still order them off the road. Looking into this further and it looks like that any unroadworthy car will be ordered off the road so no real abuse of the system.Steve30000 wrote: ↑27 Mar 2020, 08:18

What I don't know is whether these people can use any car, even if the MOT ran out a few years ago. Logic is telling me that you can't have a break between MOT's but some might take advantage. In other words, you probably are only exempt if your vehicle is due for an MOT during the next 6 months.

Re: 6 Month MOT exemption
Just to inform you all that the 6month extension to the MOT has been extended to 12 months.
But still keep your car safe though
