If everyone wants to stop their practices, we need to ALL stop trading with them.

Hurt their economy and they might have no choice but to close down these wet markets, grouping animals together and causing potential pandemics.

If anything those wet markets would increase.
China has a massive population and suffer unbelievable amounts of poverty.
Their government and the country appears rich and it is but they don't share the money around with everyone.
Because of this, people with very little money will continue to do as they have been.
Starve them of more money and as I say those markets will likely increase because I can't see their government sharing the money about.
That, together with the unhealthy lifestyle of the poor, is a breeding ground for pandemics to get a grip.

They're not going to stop doing it if we all say "you're causing potential pandemics, please stop this practice, you're affecting the whole world", are they?

Short of starting a war with them, or cutting them off altogether, hitting their government where it hurts is the only other way of doing it.

Thus the poor get poorer and the wet markets boom again.
I actually agree with you on many points so maybe part of trade agreements could be them cleaning up their act.
Whatever has to happen for China and many other oriental countries to conform to western standards it will take decades to implement.
Don't expect them to stop eating anything that lives and breathes tomorrow just because we don't like it.

Just let them crack on, while we have to avoid each other, sanitise everything, watch people die and lose their jobs,...

All because they don't care about food safety, or cramming animals next to each other, passing on diseases that causes pandemics around the world.

The only thing is for individuals to boycott Chinese goods.
But, it wont work because put a similar cheap Chinese piece of junk next to a quality brand and most people will go for cheapness.
Of course what you could have are government will balls that tell them that if they don't conform to minimum standards then there will be no choice to the public because we wont let their goods in. That will not happen though, so back to square one and it's left down to us.

I would rather have quality over quantity so my first choice would be the quality brand.
