In most instances where people are fit enough to defend themselves I am sure they wouldn't think twice about picking up a frying pan and giving a burglar a good walloping with it.
The problem with that is defending yourself in court and convincing them that you had no other option.
In many cases you win because there would be a public outcry, but you can lose.
The best way to defend yourself from invaders to your property is probably CCTV and making sure it goes to the cloud.

They're patrolling Sunderland now. And like I said, they're ex security guards, bet there's a few ex bouncers there as well.

Glorified, pretendy cops. Hopefully this is over soon and we can make their positions disappear
