Free School Meals By Right

Post by Trish »

There's a lot of talk about free school meals recently but I have the best solution.

All kids who go to school all day should be entitled to a free school meal by right.
No ifs and buts or whether anyone can or can't afford it.

I was brought up on free school meals and I ended up intelligent and handsome :P
I agree that we should give all kids a nutritious meal at break time free of charge.

Didn't we used to do this?

It's always been means tested from what I remember but I think all kids should get free school meals regardless.

Someone in their 70's or 80's might be able to answer that for my time at school.
I can't quite remember but I believe some of the kids went home while we ate in the hall.
I also remember at one point that they dished out tickets so this suggests that they were making sure that only those entitled were to get one (some were gate crashing).

Even if they're from a rich family?

I am not a socialist by any means but if they want out kids to go to school and dress similar so that we can't distinguish who has money etc., then I agree with this.

They'll probably be at a private school anyway, I suppose.

Well, they should provide a meal but only if it's necessary.
If kids want to bring their own meals to school so be it.
Personally I thought the school meals were top notch.

Used to love the deserts when I was there.
