So the name reflects that mining heritage.
The light bit comes from the Davy Lamp that was used down the mines or pits.
On your approach to the stadium, you should see a roundabout with a Davy Lamp monument in the middle - that light never goes out in memory of all those who died or were injured down the mines.
SAFC reflects this heritage with their Academy of Light and the other sports facility close to the stadium called the Beacon of Light.
There is also the Foundation of Light (education) and the Centre of Light.
