Durham county council makes plea about recycling waste

According to Durham County Council, less than 50 per cent of materials able to be recycled in the county are actually being recycled due to the wrong materials being but in recycling bins.

How about these companies who make these products make it more clear about what is and isn't recyclable? Stop blaming the public

Exactly, they should offer solutions but also make it easier.
