What makes us think it will be a bloke? They must have had a few in the office for interviews and thought at least one would come that's why the announcement was imminent. Imagine this phone call: "Mr such and such, I'm delighted to say you have the job." Mr such and such, "sorry, I've decided to take the job of managing my local under 16s".
