Creepy Crawlies - Patio Bugs - Jumping Creatures

Creepy Crawlies - Patio Bugs - Jumping Creatures

Thought I would pack as much information in the title as possible :D

For the past few weeks I have been sitting in the back garden and in particular, around the patio. Sitting pretty close to the ground I have often observed tiny creatures that are numerous and seem to be practically everywhere. They are dark coloured and cant be more than about 5mm long but they can jump quite far for no apparent reason from time to time. Most of the time, however, they appear to be just crawling around in their own locality. My patio is 8metres x 3metres and they are on every paving slab. I remember seeing creatures like this years ago and used to call them lops

They look harmless enough but just wondered if they can cause a problem and has anyone else got them in their garden. You have to get close to the ground and look carefully otherwise you may not notice them.

I wouldn't worry about these little jumping insects. I checked my driveway and they are there too. Looks like nothing to worry about to be honest but they are not lops because lops need to live on animals and suck their blood.

I have also seen these many before. I wouldn't worry unless they come into your home. They are not lops or fleas and possible will not entertain your house. I have them outside and they just seem to hang around their own locality. They don't seem to wander far but I wonder why they have the ability to jump so high and for as far as they do. Possibly its a defensive thing. These little things don't pose a problem at all as they will have been around forever and I have never seen them in the house.

They are pretty much harmless. Its not as if they want to live indoors because they don't. Now that would be bad.
