NASA Releases Thousands More Images Of The Apollo Missions

Post by Jammy Dodger »

NASA Releases Thousands More Images Of The Apollo Missions.

The images released are of the Apollo missions between 1961 and 1972. There are around 13,000 pictures that were never released before and are now uploaded online for all to see.

The images are literally out of this world and are a must see for anyone interested in this exciting period of space exploration. There are some excellent shots of the Earth, the moon, the astronauts and of course the moon walks.

Kipp Teague is responsible for the archiving project and after some fuss with his original process of editing the images has decided to post them totally unedited. There are some reprocessed images to bring the best quality high definition images. NASA released the images and the project is an independent undertaking.

There are some stunning pictures here.
I went on the Project Apollo Archive this morning and was there quite a while.
Some images are amazing I am just surprised it has taken so long to release the Apollo pictures.
Be prepared to spend a lot of time on there.
There are many images that are quite similar but I would recommend the site to anyone.

That's an amazing collection of images from the Project Apollo Mission.
You could spend forever on that site and its bookmarked for a later date.
There are some really sharp images from the Apollo missions way back in the 1960's and 1970's.
I only seem to remember blurred pictures, maybe because of a black and white television I had
Well done to those that archived the images and released them for the public to view.
A great project for those who are interested in the moon landings and the early days of space exploration.
A big thumbs up from me on this one.

Why has it taken all this time to release the images or were they available but nobody thought about releasing them publically until now?

I might have the day off today!

If anyone goes through all those pictures with a fine toothed comb, there may be a possibility that they could discover something what has never been found before. You never know!

What the Project Apollo Mission has done is something NASA couldn't do because of cutbacks apparently so well done to the people who took control over this. The images are very good and well worth viewing.

NASA couldn't archive the pictures because of "cutbacks" - amazing!
Well done to those from the Project Apollo Mission for taking the responsibility.
Sounds like there was a lot more to this project than meets the eye as its quite easy to archive ordinary pictures.
It goes to show that things are really not quite what they seem and as in this project neither is it straightforward either.

What a great project.
Long overdue but well worth it.
Better late than never.
I remember most of the Apollo missions and it was a very exciting time.
Nothing much like it has happened since.
Getting a man on Mars will be the next great challenge.
It will happen in our lifetime but whether humankind will benefit from this remains to be seen.

There are some really detailed pictures on that site.
Its about time they released all the space pictures as and when they have finished with them from all space missions. After all, space is being conquered for all mankind so its only right that they let us see them.
