If you look over the river from the north side then the new Sunderland bridge will be slightly left of Clachy Rock.

Building the new bridge over the River Wear is a bloody big project.
I remember walking over the A19 Hylton Bridge before it opened - that was weird!

I'd like to see the Queen open the new Sunderland bridge as well.
As for the naming of it I just don't know.

I still haven't heard what they will call the new Sunderland bridge.
Does anyone know how they will decide on the naming of it?
I asked a councillor the other day and he hadn't a clue.

The disruption will cause a few moans I am sure but when the new Sunderland bridge is complete it will prevent the usual disruption elsewhere in the city. Last night I had a bit moan to myself when I got stuck in traffic on Wessington Way near the retail park. The road is down to one lane and has a speed limit now of 30mph :o

OK rant over, it has to happen, you just can't build a new bridge and dual carriageway without disruption.

Yes we will have a bit moan about it and there will be even more moaning to come from lots more people when the construction goes into overdrive. I think that this bridge is about 15-20 years overdue to be honest.

I try to avoid Wessington way at peak periods nowadays anyway. Going down to one lane has made me avoid it even more. As stated, it has to be done but the wait may be a pain for some.

Queen Alexandra Bridge was very busy the other afternoon with traffic right up to Pallion Retail Park on one side and well past B&Q on the other side.

This new Sunderland bridge can't come soon enough for me.

It doesn't have to be any particular time - the Queen Alexandra Bridge always seems chocka when I try and cross it :?
