Post by thingamajig »

Sunderland 3-1 Carlisle United - Checkatrade Trophy

Stadium of Light - kick off 7:45pm

Three academy lads scored tonight in this cup game.
Kimpioka - 3 minutes
Robson - 34 minutes
Honeyman - 64 minutes

Carlisle got one back from Nadesan (22 mins)

The lads are top of this group with only Morcambe to push aside to get through to the next stage.
A good workout for the youngens.

Sunderland starting XI: Ruiter, Matthews, Ozturk, Baldwin, James, McGeouch, Honeyman, Robson, McGeady, Maguire, Kimpioka
SAFC substitutes: Patterson, O’Nien, Hackett, Diamond, Taylor, Connelly, Gamble

I must admit I don't understand the rules of the Checkatrade Trophy
But a good result all the same.

The attendance was 8,112.
This may not seem high but no game last night apart from Sunderland got more than 2,000 :D
There was 24 games played last night in this cup and there was plenty of Premier League clubs playing.

We love our football up here!
