COVID-19 and Pubs

Post by Sunderland Nut »

The government are telling people not to go to pubs and clubs, I get that because you could catch Coronavirus if someone there has it.
They are letting pubs stay open :headscratch:
So, if we keep going to the pubs, the government will close them down.
WTF.
What exactly do they want?
Do they want the pubs to stay open and keep the staff tending an empty bar?
I just don't get it.

It was a silly situation
They wanted pubs to close voluntarily but after tonight they are all closed with an order from the government.
Finally the government acted.
This came through their daily update about half an hour ago.

What was that you said again?

Looks like only those places that deal in health or food are opening.
I bet Boris Johnson thought his premiership was going to be easy

Can't think of a more stupid situation to be honest.
I think they were hoping that the people would stay away then the businesses go bust rather than opt to save them.

That makes sense.
Let them go bust and that's one less business to plough money into.
That backfired on them :lolboard:

I must admit that I was confused. Boris was telling folk to avoid pubs for a while or he would step in. As if

The pubs were never going to close down voluntarily.
When we get back to normal there might be different bar staff.
