You would have thought so by now with the lockdown and the COVID-19 jab kicking in but there's not much of a slowdown.

It's been about a month since I last updated the figures which were 19,108.
Now, since the start of the pandemic, there have been 21,005 cases.

That is slightly less than 500 per week which is still far too high!

It's bound to have dropped by now and I never see anyone go into those covid testing stations any more.

I'll check it again soon but I don't think they are vaccinating the under-50s yet.

Supposed to be done by the end of April.

The figures are a heck of a lot better now in Sunderland.

On the 3rd or March this year, the city had 21,005 cases.
This was at a time when we were getting around 500 new cases a week.

Now, Sunderland has had 21,608 cases of Coronavirus since the start of the pandemic.
So, that's an increase of around 600 in two and a half weeks - a significant fall but we could do better, couldn't we?

As long as cases don't turn into hospitalisations, ventilation or deaths, then cases going up doesn't matter.

If the vaccines are helping to achieve this, then we should get back to normal asap imo

This has to be good news for the area surely.

On the 21st March 2021, Sunderland had 21,608 people who were affected by the coronavirus.
This was at a time when we were averaging 500 new cases a week for a long time!

It has been almost 8 weeks since I last gave some figures and so you might expect a rise of a few more thousands but no:

Sunderland now has had 22,175 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.

That is an increase of just 567 in those 8 weeks.

Most of those will not be infectious and most will have recovered well.
The figure of 567 is over almost 8 weeks so you are talking of very few cases in Sunderland now.

Good news or what?

According to the media, they are suggesting that the vaccine doesn't work against the India variant..

We were warned by the Indian government and still we let them come into the country.
