They seemed to have stopped work on the new road for weeks now :headscratch:

You are right, it's all gone quiet.
I hope it's all finished for the Christmas panic buying because near Christmas, Cowies roundabout gets really busy.

Yes, you can sit for ages waiting for that to clear but maybe the flow of traffic at the roundabout will be quicker when it's all done.

No part the new road is in use yet even though it looks decent from the top end so I wonder if there will be a ribbon cut to mark the opening.

The bit around the Queen Alexandra Bridge area was taking time but I don't know how advanced they are there now.

I can't imagine how they are building a dual carriageway under the QAB.
That was probably some engineering nightmare.

Cowies roundabout seems to be finished now with all road markings and pedestrian crossings in place.

Looking at the map, they only needed to remove one big building

I am only going by memory of the area from many years ago but I did notice them strengthening certain parts on the bend.
I keep meaning to get down there for pictures but I'm sure we will be driving along there soon anyway.

That bit is good now although I think they should move the zebra crossing up about 50 yards at the bottom of Hylton Road as it's too near the roundabout.

If you look over the river you can see the new road under the QAB. It looks a bit steep at that point but it might be just an illusion.
