Should this government consider cutting back on the tax we pay for fuel?

Post by Steve30000 »

Nearly half of the price at the pump is tax and duty. Surely they should cut this back so it's more affordable, otherwise it's going to plunge people into poverty.

When you're working and still struggling, then you know it's bad. Even if it's just for a year, they need to do something, or they'll face the fury of the UK citizens imo

My last fill up at Thompson Road, Southwick, was £72.00.
That was at £1.59.7 per litre for diesel.
I later passed the Barnes garage and that was £1.75 barring that fraction of a penny that's always on.
At this rate, it will be a £100.00 fill up soon.

Can't carry on doing this, it will lead to people being in debt. The government have to step in at some point

If they ease the duty on fuel at the pump,s they will have to get the money from elsewhere.

Oh well, we'll all be skint then. Gas, electric, council tax, food, national insurance all going up....our wages stay the same.

Millions end up in debt, the economy takes a hit anyway... The government then lose out on more tax in the long run.

Telling you now, it's not sustainable. So imo, this government either help their citizens, and stabilise the economy in the long run, by taking a loss in tax in the short term or keep pushing the public into a corner until they can't push any more and they get nothing.

Millions on the dole will cripple the country, believe me.

Since the year 2020 kicked in, the world has gone into freefall.
The UK is doing better than most countries though.
We are paying for what we have all just been through and because of that, we are taking a hit in our pockets.
There is nothing we can do really because it all has to be paid for and it's, us the workers, who have to pay more.

The minimum wage goes up in April?

We can't keep paying these prices without a significant pay increase.

5p is not enough. 🙄

That's a slap in the face..they're so out of touch, it's unbelievable.

Cut it in half..for a year.
Get rid of the green levies for a year
Don't raise NI

Otherwise we're heading for another recession. People are going to lose their jobs if they don't act now imo
