New craze with electric car drivers - racing ice drivers at the lights

Post by Steve30000 »

Does it stroke that ego? It must do, because EVERY electric car driver seems to do this, it's far too common to write it off as just one offs..

They all do it. If you're sitting at the lights next to a petrol or diesel car, you will ALWAYS beat them from a standing start at the lights, no matter what car you're next to.
Your electric car has instantaneous acceleration and power from a standstill. Your car doesn't have to go through the gears to gain power gradually, the battery gives it instant power.

Believe me, someone is going to get hurt because of this daft one-upman-ship and egotistical thought going through that thick skull.

My pet hate is boy racers at the traffic lights.
Hopefully, it will be a while before the totally brainless boys and girls can afford an electric car.
I saw one online that can do 0-60mph in 2.99 seconds.

The power is there as soon as you press the accelerator. It's not the same for a car with an engine.
Makes them look class though, being halfway up the road as you're just pulling away... Gives them a thrill I suppose

They are quiet as well so if the mindless people with them hit someone they won't know what hit them

My neighbour has an electric car and they are quiet.
They are class at night obviously but whether we should make them have a sound during the day is open to debate.

Its the acceleration qualities that @Steve30000 is on about and I would love to experience that.
