I bet it doesn't reach 40 degrees Centigrade on Sunday.
Another scare.

It will not just be a warming here and there around the globe.
Oh no, there will be all sorts of unusual weather all over.
Places will be hotter and some will be colder, some windier and some drier or wetter.
Either way, nature does this from time to time but we are due for an ice age so enjoy the warmer weather while you can folks.

Agree that the earth goes through cycles in weather and climate. The problem is that we've made it worse by pumping far too much co2 into the atmosphere.Nockya wrote: ↑15 Jul 2022, 17:05 It will not just be a warming here and there around the globe.

I did see somewhere that by pumping carbon dioxide out like we are, we are helping prevent the ice age that's due around about now.Steve30000 wrote: ↑15 Jul 2022, 20:09Agree that the earth goes through cycles in weather and climate. I really don't know and neither do the boffins but the cooling cycle should have started.
It will not be long and Earth will become an iceball and let's see what Putin blames that on

In Sunderland, they say it will reach 33 degrees Celcius today, let's see if they get that right.

It did finally break the record for the UK because it went just over 40 degrees Celcius.
It says it is 31 degrees right now in Sunderland but what it was earlier in the day I don't know but it's generally hotter around midday ish.

We need to start being radical before it's too late imo.
This should be a wake up call to do something before we make our planet inhospitable.
That was awful working in those temperatures, it's clear that it's self inflicted. The planet is fighting back and there'll only be one winner, and it won't be us.
We need to drastically reduce air travel, I wouldn't be surprised if this is worst polluter of the lot.
We need to make electric vehicles cheaper, so there's no excuse not to get one.
We need to really cut down on our meat consumption. Methane from animals is contributing to global warming as well. Farming also has a detrimental effect on our ability to plant more trees.
We need to utilise wind turbines, solar panels and tidal power more. These energy companies who are making massive profits right now need to step it up and make this happen sooner.
If people were just ignoring climate scientists before, then surely they'll start listening to them now, because it's not just our future we're harming, but our children's future.
