Sunderland Vs Coventry - Team Sheet, Result & Reviews

The 2022/23 football season starts here!

The Black Cats play their first league game today outside of the dreaded League One.
Alex Neil is still Head Coach so I'm sure we all wish him well.

The weather on Wearside today is overcast with a little drizzle but warm.

Team news:

Sunderland AFC Starting XI: Patterson, Gooch, Ballard, Batth, Cirkin, Evans, Neil, Embleton, Pritchard, Clarke, Stewart
SAFC Substitutes: Bass, Wright, Alese, Simms, Roberts, Hume, O'Nien

Coventry City Starting XI: Moore, Hyam, McFadzean, Panzo, Eccles, Sheaf, Hamer, Bidwell, Allen, Godden, Gyokeres
Coventry Subs: Wilson, Doyle, Rose, Dabo, Palmer, Tavares, Walker

We need goals and I can't see us getting many unless Alex Neil boosts our front line.

HAWAY THE LADS.

Coventry is an experienced Championship side so you can't get more of a test for Sunderland.
It has a 1-1 draw all over it but I think the Sky Blues will score first!

We are on Sky TV so the attention is there from day one. Not only that but Sunderland is the biggest football club in the Championship as we were in League One. Also, we will set the biggest league attendance from the off. That's SAFC!

This is a massive test for Sunderland.
Coventry finished 12th last season and is experienced.
Meanwhile, the lads are virtually unchanged from our League One days.
Don't expect too much.
