Fulwell 73 ambitions for Sunderland

Working in partnership with North East Screen, Sunderland University and Sunderland City Council, plans are in the pipeline for Fulwell 73 to play their part in the ongoing regeneration of Sunderland by creating the UK’s largest high end TV and film studio in the country right here on the banks of the Wear.

"We can’t go into more detail at this stage about our studio plans, but what I will say is that if once this region was known for shipbuilding and coal mining, if we achieve what we are aiming to, it will become known for film and TV production and that will have just as significant a cultural and commercial impact for generations to come, as the great industries of this region did before.

Considering this could happen along with all the regeneration that is happening already, it could potentially be massive for the area.

These things tend to snowball, business after business will want to set up here hopefully

After a few years of nothing happening around here, suddenly it all seems to be taking off.
It sounds as if they know what they want and have high hopes.
Hopefully, they will get the backing and funding that they need!

The city is like a construction site at the minute.

Bit more on exactly how big this site will be...

https://www.4d-studio.co.uk/work/crown- ... underland/

It takes up a massive amount of land on the left and right side of the spire bridge... 😮

The Crown Works Studios in Sunderland, set to become one of Europe’s largest filming complexes, was the subject of a devolution deal agreed between the government and the new North East Mayoral Combined Authority (NEMCA) and Sunderland City Council.

The deal leverages £450m of private funding to help the North East become a major hub for big budget productions. The planned 1.7m square foot facility featuring 20 film and high-end TV sound stages is expected to boost the region’s economy by £336m a year and create around 8,450 jobs.
