Roker Park Illuminations Are Back

Roker Park Illuminations Are Back

Indeed, the seafront lights at Sunderland are back. They are not what Sunderland had many moons ago but are a smaller scale version at Roker Park. We have seen Roker light up before but this time in 2013 they promise to be bigger and better.

Roker Park Illuminations Are Back 2013To clarify, up to 70,000 people went to see the Roker Park illuminations in 2012. Moreover, after discussion with local traders the lights will illuminate again this year. Indeed, Sunderland Council have decided to switch the lights on, organised by Sunderland Live.

In fact, with the theme of Alice in Wonderland there will be many new attractions for all. Indeed, young and old alike should enjoy the activity programme when the announcement arrives.

The big switch on will be on the 12th of October and will continue until the 3rd of November. Up until now there will be no switch on event as such. However, we do expect one for sure. With this in mind, Wearside Online encourages people to get down to Roker Park this year. Indeed, not just to enjoy the illuminations spectacle but to support local businesses as well.

Roker Park Illuminations – Sunderland Lights

For those that remember the Sunderland illuminations of yesteryear, those under discussion now will not be as good. However, we expect this to become a yearly event again. Obviously over time, and as the budget allows, we would also expect things to grow to again. The extension of the summer season will ensure both Seaburn and Roker is the place to be every autumn.

Finally

We obviously wish every success to the organisers and Sunderland City Council for brightening up the lives of Wearsiders. Together with the City Centre Christmas lights and the events there, Sunderland is the surely the premier place to be.You can also make a comment here with your memories of the Sunderland Illuminations.

Finally, the Sunderland Message Boards (SMB) is our sister website where you can comment on the lights too. The Sunderland Forum is a local community for all the family.
