You'd think that there'd be more protection around key support structures on bridges... There'll be a massive investigation over that.

Even if they did, would a container ship be able to go under it? Think those ships would be too big, even under the spire, and I'm certain that's a lower height than the queen Alexandra.

Nothing too big would reach the Northern Spire.
Some ships can get to the Corporation Quay, but I doubt container ships could negotiate past the piers.
