Patrick van Aanholt appreciation thread

It was a little shock to me that Patrick van Aanholt left the club in the manner than he did.
In fact, I was pretty shocked to be honest.
I haven't been to the last few games at the Stadium of Light but when I have seen him play I thought he was good.
I know he was transferred a few weeks ago and come at a bad time at half way through the season but losing a squad member in January is not good.
Most people I have heard say that because he put in a transfer request we should let him go.
I am also of that opinion as well now but why did most people say the opposite with Kone?
Most are also saying we got a good price for PVA and got a better replacement.
However, I thought on his day he was a decent player for Sunderland.
He always gave 100% and his goal celebrations were some of the best.
Although I am getting used to the idea of PVA's move to Crystal Palace now, I wasn't happy at the time.
Good luck PVA, but you did go to a club that is really only Championship fodder!

I agree about some of his celebrations but he has gone now under the wrong circumstances.

While PVA was at Sunderland he did alright but let's be honest, if a player wants to go - let them.
Look at Kone, he should have been sold to Everton when we had the chance.

I think that when he played for Sunderland, PVA did give us his best and that's all you can ask of players.
