North East Old Punk Rockers Wanted

Post by Paper Terry »

North East Old Punk Rockers Wanted

There's a new book being written about the aging punks and punk rockers from around the North East of England.

Initially it seemed it was going to be about bands from Tyneside until the writers found out that the North East was teaming with far more punk bands than Tyneside

It will take some effort to compile such works but we wish them luck anyway.

Hopefully they will make sure The Toy Dolls are given pride of place in the book considering they are the worlds best known and best loved punk rockers.

Also Olga being the most lovable character around :P

Here's a link to the Sunderland Blogs article:

Here is a quick link to the writers website too if you want to bypass the article: http://www.behance.net/gobonthetyne

Well you know what the idiot inbred G3-0rdies are like.

They think that life revolves around Newcastle. WTF!

When they look elsewhere they see life as it should be.

Sunderland was and still is a hotbed for new bands and as stated we have the Toy Dolls which I bough all their albums by the way :P

Then when you go towards Teesside there are even more!

Gob On The Tyne can go to hell it should have been anarchy in the North East or something but I think I will boycott any of their material. After all everything other than Newcastle was an afterthought so they can go suck themselves.

..... and Sunderland, the underdogs, are in the lead!

Wow the Toy Dolls!

I would love to get to see these. I still have a few of their cd's. I think the last one I bough was called the "Anthology"? Might be wrong on the title but it was £9.99 from HMV in the Bridged.

I always thought they were long gone but a few years ago I went on their website and discovered that they always tour, year in year out, just not in the UK.

That's when I went for their album.

I wont ever forget the first album I bought, it was called "A Far Out Disc" and you know what - I still play it to this day. Those lads are crazy man

I read the article and it shows the inbreds on Tyneside are so bloody up their own backsides to know whats going on around them. Are they so foooking thick that they were willing to overlook other groups from the area including the Toy Dolls ffs :o

Sex Pistols, Sham 69, Stranglers, Damned.

I think we were ripped off them days though.

Look at how many turned their backs on the punks who bought their music? Boomtown Rats, The Jam and even the Stranglers all went commercial so I turned my back on it all very early.

The Toy Dolls are one of the only groups who never changed to go commercial although you could say Nellie the Elephant was an attempt.

Good luck to all concerned.

I was gutted when I couldn't get to see the Lurkers at the Lees Club in Park Lane in the late seventies. The bouncers wouldn't let me in :?
